Case Studies
Case study: Bryncir Tile Centre
Existing technology:
A large kitchen and tile shop heated by an old 90 kW oil fired boiler. The future requirement will also include a wood drying kiln to dry logs to be chipped into biomass fuel for the local market.
New technology/solution:
A new 199 kW biomass system installed, fuelled by self dried and chipped wood chip at approx. 1/3 the price per kWh than heating oil. The shop is heated by a 60 kW fan coil radiator with the remaining capacity for the kiln.
Capital cost: £ 86,000
Energy saving: £ 14,000 p.a.
Other savings: £ 23,000 p.a. RHI income
Carbon saving (tCO2e): 108t p.a.
Project payback: £ 1,000,000 over 20 years
